Often times fleas are visible to the naked eye, but since cats are natural groomers, careful examination of your pet is the first step.

Do you see your cat scratching at its ears, under its chin or around its collar? If your cat is excessively grooming itself, this can be another sign of flea infestation. Part the hair, at various places along the back and around the neck and see if you detect “flea dirt” which looks similar to black pepper. It is common to also see flea dirt on your cats face. Another normal sign your cat has fleas is hair loss, which usually comes after prolonged exposure.
